Puis-je utiliser FlowCast® pour les petites coulées?

Utilisé en bas volumes, FlowCast guérit extrêmement lentement. Les temps de cure de produit varient en fonction du volume utilisé. Pour les pièces coulées plus petites, comme les plateaux de service ou les sous-verres, nous vous recommandons d'utiliser FlowCast Spr.

Puis-je faire des verseurs multicouches?

Oui, FlowCast convient aux coulées à plusieurs couches. Des couches supplémentaires peuvent être versées sans préparation de surface lorsque la couche précédente est collante pour toucher. Si la couche précédente n'est plus collante à toucher, vous devrez attendre que la résine atteigne une dureté suffisante (environ 72 heures), puis éraflez la surface avec du papier de verre de grain 220. Retirer l'excès de poussière et les débris avec de l'air comprimé et essuyez la surface avec l'alcool dénaturé ou isopropylique avant de verser la couche suivante.

Puis-je verser plus épais que 38 mm (1,5 ”)?

Si vous envisagez de verser plus épais que 38 mm (1,5 ”) et / ou à un volume supérieur à 30L, il est suggéré d'éviter la surchauffe. Alternativement, vous pouvez activement refroidir une coulée plus épaisse avec des ventilateurs, mais vous devez être prêt à surveiller constamment la température pour vous assurer que votre projet ne surchauffe pas. Notez que les résultats varieront en fonction de la température ambiante. Lorsqu'il est mélangé en grande quantité, ce produit peut générer une chaleur importante. Manipuler avec soin.

Ai-je besoin d'une couche de phoque? Quel produit recommandez-vous?

Nous recommandons le revêtement de sceau toutes les surfaces qui seront submergées dans FlowCast. Les couches de phoque aident à empêcher l'air et l'humidité de migrer des matériaux submergés, ce qui peut provoquer des bulles. UVPoxy est le système préféré pour les couches de joint car il s'agit d'une résine de durcissement plus rapide faite pour l'application en couches minces. Les manteaux de sceau salé doivent être abrasés et nettoyés avant de procéder avec des couleurs.

Quels produits puis-je utiliser pour terminer mon FlowCast projet?

Pour une couche de finition brillante, Ecopoxy UVPoxy est un choix idéal. Pour les finitions mates à sous-traitez, utilisez de la cire de bois, de l'huile de cire dure ou des uréthanes. Tout produit destiné à la finition en bois est compatible avec FlowCast.

Mon projet sera-t-il jaune au fil du temps?

Tous les époxys jaunes au fil du temps. Pour lutter contre cela, nous avons formulé FlowCast avec des stabilisateurs UV. Ces additifs absorbent la lumière UV et empêchent les dommages à la résine. Finalement, les stabilisateurs perdront leur efficacité. Ajoutant des pigments métalliques ou liquides à FlowCast aidera à résister mieux au jaunissement que s'il est laissé transparent. Les projets terminés ne doivent pas être conservés à l'extérieur.

Mélange

Dans un récipient propre et sec, combinez (en volume) 2 parties résine avec un durcisseur de 1 partie et mélangez soigneusement pendant 4 à 5 minutes. Ajouter les pigments liquides ou métalliques comme vous le souhaitez et mélanger jusqu'à ce qu'ils soient uniformément dispersés.

Application

La zone de travail doit être propre, sèche et exempte de poussière. FlowCast peut être versé à 13-38 mm (0,5-1,5 ”) par couche. FlowCast ne rétrécira pas tout en durcissant dans des conditions normales. Cependant, il peut lentement remplir les fissures et les vides dans les morceaux de bois, provoquant la baisse du niveau de résine. Soyez prêt à ajouter plus d'époxy au besoin.

L'époxy libère la chaleur lors du durcissement. Pour les versements de 30L ou plus, plusieurs coulées plus minces peuvent être nécessaires pour empêcher la surchauffe. Les ventilateurs soufflant à travers l'époxy de durcissement peuvent également être utilisés pour aider à dissiper la chaleur. Pour la meilleure adhérence entre les couches, attendez que la première couche soit collante pour toucher avant de verser une deuxième couche. Si la couche précédente n'est plus collante, poncez avec du papier de verre à 220 grain et essuyez avant de verser une autre couche.

Nice epoxy. Worked exactly how the specs said it should. Mixed in color and it came out great. Did a double pour for a finished thickness of over 2”. Would definitely buy again.

Durable and hardly no smell.

This epoxy resin is expensive, but you get what you pay for. There is almost no smell, and it is extremely durable. I've used it for two projects with the latest for a countertop island between hard maple boards. It is stronger than the hard maple, flows well, and is easily colored.

Amazing product and extremely easy to use

I used EcoPoxy for my rivertable computer desk and it was quite easy to use. Although it is crucial that you follow the instructions on the container regarding temperature, pour thickness, ratios, and cure time, if you follow what the container instructs, you'll be fine. This was my first time working with any type of epoxy and I have to say that although I was initially nervous in how to properly use the epoxy (as it was not cheap) after my first pour, it was like clockwork afterwards. the finished product came out great and although I'm not completely done with the construction of the desk. I am very pleased with the outcome.

Leaking upon arrival.

This is my first time working with this epoxy. My first impression is not good. Both Part A bottles are leaking. The package was not damaged, so the leak is likely due to a bad seal. I weighed both part A containers, and one is 1.8oz less than the other. I’m hoping that it does not cause issues with the epoxy setting. I plan on calling the manufacturer to confirm.I will update the review once I have more info.

UPDATE: Since this review was submitted, EcoPoxy has transitioned to smaller, more reliable, child safe lid & seal. We also now feature white lids for resin, and black lids for hardeners, to help avoid mixing mishaps!

A versatile epoxy resin

I have used Ecopoxy Flowcast for several months now. I made some resin wood hybrid bowls I turned on the lathe, and recently have been pouring river tables. The viscosity is super thin, so bubbles break out easily on their own. I do recommend coating your wood surfaces before making a pour. When the wood soaks up the resin, it will sometimes leave bubbles in the late cure stage. By pre- coating, I have seen less bubbles deep in the epoxy pour. This resin takes about 36 hours to harden tack free. But the results are worth waiting for. Sands and polished nicely.

Excellent deep pour river table epoxy

I have used both this new formula and the previous discontinued formula on 5 different deep pour river tables all of which are about 2" thick. The stuff simply works great for me and I am an amateur just taught myself how to do this stuff recently watching a few YouTube videos. Literally no smell what so ever. Never had issue with soft spots from poor mixing(I use my drill and a paint mixer attachment and mix really well being careful not to introduce too much bubbles). I will pop bubbles with heat gun for the first few hours and then leave overnight, come back next morning and there is usually a few more stragglers that need attention, pop those and the epoxy is Chrystal clear. I run it through my 20" planer no issues. I will say I used a hand planer once a dewalt cordless model and not sure if I was pushing too fast or the blades were dull, but I chipped the epoxy pretty badly so be careful there. Overall highly recommended.

I have used FlowCast on the last 10 projects and have had good results. it does seem to work better if you do 2 smaller pours of 3/4" than doing one 1 1/2" pour.
I have switched to UV Poxy on the last 9 projects for the topcoat and it worked great until this last project. cannot seem to get bubbles out? did 2 seal coats and 1 flood coat. milled back off and tried again, 2 seal coats and 1 flood coat. still cannot get rid of bubbles. mill back off and purchase new box of uv poxy incase it was bad or old. still had trouble getting air bubbles out, finally torched it enough to get it somewhat acceptable!

It would be great to know what species of wood you were coating; oak, for example, can be particularly challenging to keep bubble-free. Hey Katie, not sure of the particulars of your project, but if you are using small volumes, and lower pour depths, then we may have another product that's better suited - Like FlowCast SPR (small projects resin), or even UVPoxy (for depths under 1/4').

Great product

Excellent end results, but there is some trial and error to apply it properly to get a great result

Once product itself is dry, it is very durable and brings out the very best detail in slab wood table tops for example. However, it is not as easy to work with as you might think. When mixed, it's much closer to the viscosity of water than syrup for example, which makes it flow thru and into any wood cracks better, but also puts any tape used to control its flow under more strain. Product comes in two bottles - epoxy and resin - and mixing them together is straight forward and low VOC. The preparation of the material you are using this product on (for example a table top slab), and the details of how the process is accomplished are the critical elements. As an example - if using product to seal a table top, you must ensure that you start with a THIN coating into any cracks in the wood AND let that dry thoroughly, before applying additional product layer, or layers. If you try and pour the cracks full with the first application or one application, especially if those cracks are thick and deep, the wood will just absorb too much product AND it will put pressure on any tape used on the bottom side of the table top slab for example, and likely will leak out around the underside crack(s) thru the tape (especially if its not the right tape). Using the right kind of tape on the bottom of the cracks before pouring is critical. I was told to use Tyvek house wrap tape initially - big mistake ! That product not only leaked out from under that tape, that tape was to thin and almost impossible to peal off when product was dry (it bonded with the product directly and took ages to chip off). I found that green frog tape, the kind used in painting, worked much better and detached from the dried product much better. Best advice can give - Watch LOTS of available videos on the web showing examples of applying this material, especial to your specific application, BEFORE you start working with this product on your own project !

Takes forever to dry but it works very well. Use the faster drying one if you are using powdered dyes

My most used epoxy to date

You need to know the drying times and if you want to stir the epoxy for swirl's when to do so. Have done 6 or more tables and this performs well. Some were 1.75 inches thick and dried well. Only nuance was bubbles and temperature when you pour. Just hit the bubbles with torch however I still wound up having some bubbles inside the pour.Once dried, this sands well and if using 1000 grit final sand on the epoxy it comes out glass smooth. Of the brands I have tried, this is the best thus far.
